NOW Lebanon:
Kataeb bloc MP Samer Saadeh told the Voice of Lebanon on Friday that the May 30 municipal and mukhtar elections in the northern city of Batroun will assume “a political and family character” after Energy Minister Gebran Bassil and former MP Sayed Akl became involved in the contest.
Both of the latter politicians are from the Batroun region. So far, attempts to reach agreement on a consensus list in the municipal and mukhtar elections in the major northern districts have failed.
“When the election battle assumes a purely family character, this will lead to some problems that might take years to solve,” Saadeh added.
