BEIRUT – With bitter pain and sorrow, dejected Batroun town took part in the funeral procession of Albert Assal who was killed in the Ethiopian airliner that plunged into the sea few days ago. The remains of Assal were received by large crowds along with church bells and fire work. Amid a general mourning and total closure of shops and schools, the coffin of Assal was transferred from a ferry boat to St Stephan cathedral. Portraits of the deceased were posted on cars and walls of the town while ribbons flew from the windows of houses. Relatives and friends of Assal received the coffin. The family of Assal continues to accept condolences in the hall of St Stephan cathedral.
