Municipal elections in the northern town of Batroun appeared to be headed toward a ballet for failure to reach consensus.
The battle, according to the daily An-Nahar on Tuesday, will pit the coalition backed by Labor Minister Butros Harb and a number of Batroun personalities against the alliance supported by the Free Patriotic Movement and rival local figures.
Harb backs the list headed by former MP Sayed Aql which also comprises the Daou family.
The FPM, however, supports the list headed by incumbent chief Marsilino al-Hark.
